Another Beautiful Day

My yard looks like a park covered with green grass. Rain and sunshine does this every year, but this year is early. No frost to turn the grass yellow so it looks like spring time.

Hailey has been home sick. She has a planned sleepover for Saturday...her birthday is Sunday. So she wants to be well for that. I got a wonderful fire pit for Christmas and so we hope to have roasted hotdogs and marshmallows Saturday evening. So please hope the weather stays nice. It can rain Sunday if it wants.

This last week I've been putting all my music CDs on my ipod. Finally all done. Right now I'm listening to my favorite songs on my boom box from my ipod itrip. This is all so neat to do.

Finally got back here after a busy day...not that I did all that much. Elizabeth was back and forth doing laundry and so we talked and had coffee. I drove to El Cajon this afternoon. Not very exciting day.

We keep the cats in at night so they won't become coyote dinners. So have to go round up a couple that are still out. The neighbors must think I'm touched out at dusk calling kitty kitty.

Nice Day

After the rain was nice to see some sunshine. Enjoyed coffee with my daughter outside. My umbrella and table had blown over in the storms and the poor umbrella looks very tattered. Elizabeth said I should take a picture of it. It was starting to look ragged last summer anyway. I thought it would be easy to replace the cloth because the frame was in good shape...but no go. Now the spokes are all bent so I don't feel so bad about getting a new one.

I'm cooking rice so will have to pay attention to time...don't want to half way burn it like I did my breakfast the other day.

Driving down the road I thought of something I wanted to write about but now it has faded from my brain. We did have bright sun early and as we drove down the hill could see the fog laying out like cotton wool. It wasn't too bad once we drove down into it. Rice is ready...got to go.

Rainy Sunday

Nothing much happened yesterday. I've been putting my cd collection on my laptop and then downloading the songs to my ipod. So did some of that. Hailey went shopping with Elizabeth and then her friend Haley came to spend the night.

Since it is raining hard our big black cat Tuffy didn't wake me up to let him out. So I just woke up on my own...it is still dark out.

The first time Dave was rained on when he was a small child, he didn't like it very much. Both boys wanted to come inside the house and I told them that they wouldn't melt in the rain. They were soon running around and splashing their feet in puddles and having a great time.

I used to love it when it rained. Wonder what changed that.

Decided to eat oatmeal every morning. The regular kind that you have to cook on the stove. My greatgrandfather ate oatmeal every morning and he lived to be 97 years old. Today I realized that I can't just put something on the stove and then do something else for a few minutes. I did save the oatmeal but it was stuck to the bottom of the pan pretty good. I used to have better built in timing for cooking back when I did really cook big meals. That was a lot of years ago.

Have wanted to start one of these blogs for a long time. My biggest problem is that my life needs some censoring. It is not x-rated at all. It is just sometimes more than people want or need to know about. I don't know how to do this without putting in some of the not so good stuff. My oldest son, David, is schizophrenic and that brings special problems to our lives. I have a small house on my place and my son lived there with his dad. Dad and me have been seperated since 1883. Actually when I bought this place from my father's trust my son and his dad were already living here in the little house renting from my stepmom. Last year my daughter moved back to California and now she and her son live in the little house. That means my son and his dad are now sharing our house.

Before it was just Hailey and me. Hailey is my granddaughter and I've raised her since she was 18 months old. Back then I was the resident manager of a self storage place. Hailey is the daughter of my youngest son and his wife...maybe she still is. Haven't seen her since Hailey was two years old...youngest son has problems of his own.

Hailey will be 14 next week...teenagers...I love her dearly but this teen age thing is a bit much.

When we found out about David's illness, I got some books and read all about mental illness. He was on medication and counseling. That didn't last. The meds made him feel sick and the counseling only lasts so long. We are lucky that we can give him a place to live and that most of the time he is not that hard to live with. Not saying it is all easy going. David is a very kind person. He was when he was a child and that hasn't changed. I sometimes get angry at TV shows that use the term schizo and portray the mentally ill as...well you know what...I can't write the words.
